Mark Moua
Mark has been a consistent student in science class this year. Mark has learned to balance his sense of humor with his responsibilities of class. Mark has earned the respect of his classmates and gives them his respect also. I am proud of the maturity Mark is demonstrating and I believe he will continue to be a hard working student and a fun person to be around. Congratulations.
Mr. Westaby
Steven Zoll
When I ask for students to turn in an assignment, I know that Steven’s paper will be in the pile. Steven is trustworthy, honest, consistent, kind and friendly. In short, Steven is the student that his teachers and classmates alike enjoy both in and out of the classroom. Steven will be successful in anything that he tries to do. He’s just that kind of person. Congratulations, Steve!
Mrs. Hogue
Kenny Kongkeoviamn
Kenny is an excellent student in Reading/Language Arts. He deserves honor this month for his high performance and kind attitude at our school and in the classroom. He completes his reading assignments in a timely fashion and has made remarkable improvement in fluency and comprehension. I am very proud of this outstanding young man.
Mrs. Westaby
Tessa Thomsen
Tessa is a charmer! From the first day of school her focus has been to learn! She is thirsty for knowledge! In her spare time she is an eater of books! Honestly I can’t keep her in supply, she reads so fast! First and foremost she is kind, thoughtful, compassionate and respectful. I often receive notes and artwork on my desk to brighten my day. Tessa is a “sunshine spreader.” Keep up the super work Tessa your passion for learning is noticed!
Mrs. Westaby
Jessica Ward
It is my pleasure to select Jessica Ward as my Student of the Month for February. Not only is Jessica a dedicated student, but she is a wonderful citizen! Again and again, I have watched her kindness and consideration for others come shining through. She is, without a doubt, a very bright student. Yet she never flaunts this! Her willingness to help other students is definitely an asset. This characteristic sets her apart from the crowd. Jessica absolutely understands the value of teamwork. I am proud to have her on the “happy Valley Team”!
Mrs. Ricketts
Dalia Moreira
With kindness in mind for the month of Feburary I have selected Dalia as my SOM. I have had the pleasure having Dalia in my Leadership class for the past two years. She was the mastermind behind last year’s successful penny drive, which raised over $1000 for others in need. Her thoughtfulness and kindness toward others is unmatched. All while demonstrating poise and grace beyond her years.
Mrs. Goldenson
Rachel Iorg
I would describe Rachel as a quiet, yet noticeable, class leader. Rachel has maintained a 3.8 or higher GPA all year. She’s worked hard to accomplish that. She consistently uses her time efficiently in class, works well with classmates, and completes assignments on time with a high standard for quality. Rachel is kind and caring. It’s not unusual to see her helping other students be successful at school. She’s also a terrific teacher’s aide! I am proud to present Rachel with this Student of the Month award.
Mr. Zeller
Nick Grijalva
I have chosen Nick Grijalva for February’s Student of the Month because of his excellent academic progress and willingness to take direction. Nick takes pride in quality work, done on time and in clear communication in both his writings and responses. He has also made great progress in his positive interactions with both students and adults. Congratulations, Nick for your good choices and future successes.
Mrs. Smith
Hunter Esget
Hunter has been a great student in my class for as long as I have known him. His positive outlook on life and strong work ethic make him an easy selection, but he does so much more than that. He is always the first one to help his classmates or offer words of encouragement when needed. Hunter treats everyone around him with respect because he values his relationships. It’s an honor to present Hunter with this award and I wish him the best in life.
Mr. Roach
Justin Winstead
For his high achievement in Mathematics. Justin has been one of the highest performances on every assessment given in my class. Not only does he have a deep understanding of every concept presented in the class, but he always demonstrates a respectful attitude towards me and his peers. These traits will bring Justin Great success in whatever career he decides to pursue. Congratulations!
Mr. Gaddy
Athlete of the Month
Nathan Bowles
It’s always difficult to pick out one player from a team of talented athletes, but Nathan has been an integral part of the team for two seasons now. He has the ability to create his own shot and he is very good at getting the rest of the team involved. Along with his many talents, Nathan also has a great attitude and a competitive nature. I look forward to seeing him in the future.
Coach Roach
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah became a complete player this year! He did a little bit of everything. Rebounds, assists, excellent defense and even scoring on occasion, Isaiah was a threat to all opponents. He was a consistent team leader who wanted nothing more than to win every game and meet his goals. Although Isaiah received this award, I’m sure he’d agree that our team was built on teamwork and without his teammates we wouldn’t have been successful. Congrats Isaiah and the rest of the 6th grade basketball team!
Coach Zack Westaby
Hunter Esget
Hunter is an exceptional young man! He treats everyone with respect no matter who they are! It has been the same way on the basketball court. I watched him handle tough situations with class and integrity. Hunter pushes others to excel with his hard work and determination. He was on the players who would stay after practice to work on his skills to improve. Hunter’s drive to excel is matched only by his heart and personality. If you know hunter he loves to sing and dance, and he’s quite enthusiastic about both. Hunter is one of those kids that you can’t help but enjoy. He has brought so much to the team this year. Congratulations Hunter.
