And my 6th period is reading a historical fiction novel, Samurai's Tale. Both groups are enjoying the books and will finish them on Friday. We are also working on essay writing to get ready for the essay sample for the state testing.
Mrs. Goodson's History Classes
We are battling the Warlords of Japan. Students are in groups that are working to fight off all the other castles in Japan and becoming shogum of all Japan. After Japan, we are heading to Europe to learn about the Dark Ages through to the Enlightenment

Brittany Holder
Over the course of this year, especially the couple of months, Brittney has displayed the qualities and attributes of a successful “P.E. student”. Last year at this time, P.E. was probably her least favorite class…it was difficult to get any participation out of her at all. I have been pleasantly surprised to see the complete turn-around in both her attitude and effort. Brittney is one of the first students to finish her laps she competes hard in our games and she regularly attends the morning walking club. It is an honor to grant her this award and I know she will keep up the good work.
Mr. Roach
Kelsey Dulac
Kelsey is such a wonderful student. She is an absolute delight to have in class. Kelsey has taken on the job of being our math liaison. She also maintains our math file daily. In addition to her great organizational skills, Kelsey is simply a person who brings joy to everyone with whom she comes in contact. Her delightful smile and personality make her a stellar Student of the Month.
Mrs. Hogue
Sarah Davis
Sarah takes her school work very seriously. She is consistent in turning her work in, prepares for tests and participates in class discussions. Sarah is always willing to be helpful and will ask questions about things she is interested in. Sarah is my choice for Student of the Month.
Mr. Westaby
Roman Villafranco
I am very proud to select Roman as the first Student of the Month for the new year. Roman stands out as a very hard working student and has improved in reading, writing and math tremendously. He performs all of his work neatly and timely, receiving high marks. Roman shows kindness to his teachers and is worthy of this high honor. Great job Roman!
Mrs. Morgan
Joseph Bryans
Joseph is my choice for January’s Student of the Month. For a multitude of reasons. First, he has an amazing aptitude for mathematics, and easily masters abstract concepts. His work is consistent, meticulous and always of the highest quality. He extends positivity to his peers and adults alike. Keep up the impressive work!!
Mrs. Goldenson
Dylan Reeter
For his pursuit and accomplishment of near perfection in Algebra so far this year. Dylan is consistently one of the best performers on all assessments I’ve given. Dylan has shown to not only be willing to accept academic challenges, but is often eager to tackle these challenges. He always has a great attitude and seems to enjoy taking the time to work with classmates that don’t get it as easily as he does. He is built for Math and has a bright future.
Mr. Gaddy
Isaac Bocker
Isaac radiates optimism! His glass is not only half FULL, it is overflowing! It is extremely rare to not see a smile on his face. Whether he is absorbing new information, talking with a classmate or chucking up a three point shot, he finds delight in everything he does! As a 5th grade student in a class of mostly 6th graders Isaac’s maturity and intelligence cause me to forget that he’s only 10 years old! I believe that in the dictionary under Student of the Month, you would find the name Isaac Bocker. I’m impressed by this young man and you should be too!
Mrs. Westaby
Kaylee Crowell
For the month of January, I have chosen Kaylee Crowell as my Student of the Month. Kaylee is a charming young lady who breezes into the classroom in the morning, full of smiles and good cheer. She pays attention in class and makes a diligent effort to turn in neat, quality work on time. Further, I can pair Kaylee with just about any other student and she will work respectfully and productively. It is a joy to be Kaylee’s teacher.
Mrs. Smith
Laura Camacho
Laura is one of my hardworking students. She just quietly does everything she needs to accomplish the task she is given. She has routinely done extra credit whenever possible helping her keep a high grade in my class. I look forward to watching her continued improvement as she continues to grow and learn this year. I know her future is bright!
Mrs.Goodson
Jacob Hays
It is my pleasure to select Jacob Hays as my Student of the month for January. Over the last month, Jacob has put in conscientious effort to improve his language arts grade. By redoing assignments and asking for extra help, he has increased his grade from an F to a C. Ultimately, it is this level of dedication that will help Jacob he successful throughout his school career. I am very proud of Jacob’s willingness to set a goal, and work hard to achieve it. Keep up the great work Jacob!
Mrs. Ricketts
Cheyenne Hamilton
Cheyenne has been successful in 5th grade because she is determined to overcome obstacles. If she is absent for any reason, she will come and ask for the assignments. If she needs help completing them, she will ask for that, too. She freely shares her smiles and her everyday, pleasant disposition. She seems mature beyond her years, and uses her skills to solve her problems and to help others solve theirs. Cheyenne is truly a positive force in our classroom. I am proud to present you with this award.
Mr. Zeller
Athlete of the Month
Julia Moreland
I have had the privilege to see Julia grow as an athlete for the past two years. Her dedication at practice is second to none and her passion for the game of basketball is apparent to all. I could count on her knowing all of our plays and helping others to learn them. Her ability to lead was a valuable asset in practice and at the point guard position, which she learned to play very well. It will be difficult not to have Julia as a player next year, but I know she will have the same success at whatever she chooses to do in the years to come.
Coach Roach
Michelle Leuck
I nominated Michelle because of her positive attitude on and off the court. With her positive attitude, Michelle has been an excellent leader for our team. There’s never a time when I have to tell her where to be or what she should be doing. Every second she’s in the games, she plays all out, giving everything she has. Michelle plays with heart and hustle and it’s no surprise to see her diving on the floor for a loose ball or battling for a rebound with girls twice her size.
Coach Francescut
Sarah Davis
Sarah’s drive and work ethic is contagious to both her teammates and coaches alive. She literally does not stop regardless of brutal weather conditions or extreme terrain. She is an inspiration and a beacon of positivity. Keep it up Sarah!
Coach Goldenson
Jamie Elgin
Jamie stands out because she has her heart and her head in the game. She works at every practice to make herself a better player and to help her teammates be better also. Jamie has the drive needed to be a positive force on the court. She definitely has fun playing basketball and she’s a great student of the game. It’s that willingness to learn that will bring her success both on and off the court. Congratulations!
